My grandfather, who was born in Odessa, was issued a passport based on the "census books" of the city of Wegrow, Poland in 1906. This was apparently still the family's official place of residence even after over twenty years and two generations living in Odessa. The passport was issued by the City Hall of Wegrow.
Have any of these census books survived for towns in Poland?
