JRI Poland #Poland Scarce Parczew (Lublin) Marriage Indices Transcribed! #poland
Jewish Records Indexing - Poland is pleased to announce that we have received the Parczew Jewish community marriage indices for 1883-1900
(listing all brides and grooms!) >from the Lublin branch of the Polish State Archives, and have paid to have these 527 Russian/Cyrillic records typed into an EXCEL spreadsheet for inclusion in the JRI-Poland database.
I understand >from a Parczew researcher that the Parczew Jewish marriages
registers were intentionally destroyed by the Jewish community in an attempt to protect the community during the Holocaust, so these marriage records survived accidently and are very precious and important to Parczew Jewish research today. (If you know anything more about the history of these registers, please write me about it, and I'll share it will all Parczew researchers...)
The 26 most common surnames found in the 1883-1900 marriage registers are
listed here in the order of frequency... if you have other surnames you'd like me to check for you, please write me directly and ask me to send you the spreadsheet which lists all of the more than 120 unique surnames in these registers along with their frequency... I'll be happy to send it to you and answer your other questions as well.

Now that the work has been done to preserve this information for all of us, we must raise the funds to reimburse JRI-Poland. The fundraising target for this project is $150. If we can raise at least $75 during the month of December, we will qualify for some matching grant money that will complete our project, but all funds must be raised before midnight on December 31, 2003 to qualify for the matching grant challenge.
The 1881-1900 marriage register indexes will be added to the JRI-Poland
database when this project has been fully funded, and gifts of any size are GREATLY appreciated; however, a donation of a minimum of $30 and signing a Parczew database sharing agreement will make a donor eligible to receive the EXCEL index file now for their own personal use.
Any excess funds collected over the cost of this Parczew PSA project will be used to purchase and type Parczew birth and death indexes (those not filmed by the Mormons) as they are received >from Parczew at the Lublin PSA Archives. The Parczew Townhall Archives (USC) sends registers to Lublin when they have become one hundred years old, and we expect to see more Parczew registers appearing in Lublin in the future.
Here's how to make a donation to the Parczew PSA Project... please don't put it off, but make it your Chanukah gift to all Parczew researchers!
Donations to JRI-Poland are tax-deductible for US taxpayers as JRI-Poland has received 501(c)(3) status >from the US Internal Revenue Service.
