When it rains, it pours. Over 37,000 more AGAD vital record
indices have been added to the Jewish Records Indexing -
Poland database this month

YOU to Michael Tobias, Database Manager extraordinaire, for
creating and updating the JRI-Poland database, which now
has over 1.3 million index entries including over 130,000
AGAD index entries.

These indices were created directly >from the records housed
at the AGAD Archives in Warsaw. In addition to those additions
announced last week, indices for the Galician Administrative
District towns of Podhajce (Podgaytsy), Rohatyn (Rogatin),
Gologory, Grodek Jagellonski (Gorodek), Husiatyn (Gusyatin),
Zurawno (Zhuravno), Uscie Biscupie (Ust'ye), Sokolowka
(Sokolovka), Kudrynce (Kudrintsy), and Zablotow (Zabolotov)
have now been added to the database. More information on
each town is provided below.

If your ancestral town was near one of the above towns (see
coordinates below), your town's records could have been registered
in one of these towns. The towns included in this project are all
Administrative District and Subdistrict towns. The Jewish
Community in each of these towns was required by law to collect
the vital records for all the towns that were part of the Subdistrict.
The indices for the above Administrative towns include reference
to the town in which the vital event occurred. Search the database
for your surname and set "Province" to "Ukraine." This will result
in only AGAD record indices being displayed in your search results.

The indices do not have all the genealogical relevant data. You can
order the actual record >from the AGAD Archives using the Order
Form that is only a few clicks away >from your search results.

Grodek Jagiellonski/Gorodek (4947 2339)

All of the vital records available at AGAD are now indexed and
online thanks to Town Leader Mike Kalt.
This includes:
Births: 1870-1876, 1886-1892
Deaths: 1877-1890

Gologory (4945 2443)

Through the efforts of Town Leader Michael Miller, the
following birth indices are now online and searchable.
Death indices will be added in the future.
Births: 1876-1881, 1883-1894, 1897-1900

Podhajce/Podgaytsy (4916 2508)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Births and marriages were added last week. With these
death records, all the records available at AGAD are now online.
This includes:
Deaths: 1896, 1898, 1899
Deaths (Index Only): 1879-1882, 1884, 1887, 1893-1895

Index only entries are extracted >from indices and the underlying
records are not available and cannot be ordered >from AGAD.

Husiatyn/Gusyatin (4904 2613)

All the records available at AGAD are now online. Thanks to Jack
Hoadley and many generous contributors for making these available.
The database now includes:
Births: 1815-1816, 1818-1876
Marriages: 1826, 1851-1852, 1856-1858, 1865-1876

Zurawno/Zhuravno (4915 2417)

All of the vital records available at AGAD are now indexed and
online thanks to Town Leader Israel Pickholtz.
This includes:

Town Leader Ignacio Sternberg was instrumental in ensuring
that all record indices available are now online. They include:
Births: 1832-1833, 1837, 1840, 1844, 1846, 1848-1849, 1851-1876
Deaths: 1831-1832, 1835-1836, 1839, 1842, 1844, 1846, 1848-1876

Rohatyn/Rogatin (4925 2437)

Births were added last week. With these death records,
all the records available at AGAD are now online.
This includes:
Deaths: 1877-1886
Deaths (Index Only): 1887-1898

Index only entries are extracted >from indices and the underlying
records are not available and cannot be ordered >from AGAD.

Sokolowka/Sokolovka (5002 2451)

All the records available for this town are now online. Only 1897
and 1900 births were available at AGAD.

Kudrynce/Kudrintsy (4837 2618)

Through the efforts of Town Leader Lee Bothast, all the vital
records available at AGAD are now online. They include:
Births: 1853-1876
Deaths: 1853-1856, 1873-1876

Zablotow/Zabolotov (4828 2518)

Births have now been added to the database and deaths will
be added in the near future. Thank to Town Leader Ron
Schechter for making this happen.
Births: 1861-1876, 1879-1882, 1888-1892

Please stay tuned to this forum for more announcements of
when more AGAD indices are added to the JRI-Poland database.
Waiting in the wings are more death indices for Gologory and
Zablotow as well as indices for Szczerzec, Kopyczynce,
Mosciska, Rozdol, and Strzeliska Nowe.

Although all of the above Administrative town indexing projects
have been funded and are now available to researchers, there
are many years of records that will become available in the
coming years as all the records in the register books become
over 100 years old (due to Poland's strict privacy laws, all
records 100 years old or less are not available to the public and,
therefore, are not available for indexing). In order to index these
newly available records, more contributions are needed.
