JRI Poland #Poland Plock 1803 Jewish property owners #poland
Logan J. Kleinwaks
I recently stumbled upon a scanned 1803 (cadastral?) map of part of
Plock listing 77 Jewish property owners (given names and patronymics) with their properties labeled. Unfortunately, as you will see, the scan is just barely illegible. However, I suspect that the book it was scanned >from is legible if consulted in person. Before someone attempts that, I would appreciate hearing >from anyone who knows of a copy already familiar to genealogists. The map is called "Plan von der Judenstadt in Plock," made in April 1803 by Schmid. A reduced reproduction of the map appears on page 11 of the book, "Plany i pomiary miasta Plocka oraz gruntow podmiejskich od roku 1793 do lat ostatnich," by Kazimierz Staszewski, published in 1938 by the Towarzystwa Naukowego Plockiego. That book is viewable on the Plock Digital Library's website at http://www.tnp.org.pl/biblioteka/dlibra/docmetadata?id=90 (page 11 - image 13). For convenience, I have temporarily posted the map at http://genealogyindexer.org/plock1803judenstadt.png Is this map already known to Plock researchers? (Incidentally, the Plock Digital Library also has several pre-WWII "Plock Calendars" that include business, residential, and/or organizational listings, which have been added to the search engine at genealogyindexer.org.)
