Dear Fellow Researchers:
I have been having a very hard time finding my maternal grandparents
on the JewishGen, JRI-Poland, and FamilySearch websites.
My mother's family was >from KRYNKI (now Poland) and the surname was
BLOCK. Her father was Abe (probably Abraham or Abram). His parents'
names were SAMUEL BLOCK and EVA nee SEROTA. He had at least 3
brothers who were known in the United States as MIKE, MORRIS, and
LOUIS. I did find a MEYER BLOCK in the US census.
My mother's mother was also >from KRYNKI. She was YENTE KAPLAN. Her
parents were EBER AND ZEPA KAPLAN. She had a sister MASHKA
(spelling?) who also went to Cuba, married and had 3 boys.
ABE BLOCK went to Cuba probably between 1923 and 1925. He sent money
back to Krynki to bring his future wife, YENTE KAPLAN, to Cuba. They
married in 1926 in Havana and had my mother Bayla (known as Belita) in
1927 and Elias (known now as Allan) in 1939. They came to the US in
1941, settling in Brooklyn, NY.
If any of this narrative sounds familiar to anyone I would love to
hear >from you. Or if there are sites that I haven't looked at please
BLOCK and KAPLAN - Krynki, Poland
