The art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) developed a digital archive of over
4,000 images >from the Henryk Ross Collection of Lodz Ghetto Photographs.
This was developed in partnership with Facing History and Ourselves and
the Sarah Chaim Neuberger Holocaust Education Centre. The website is:
http://www.agolodzghetto.com/. The launch of the digital archive in May
marked the 70th anniversary of Mr. Ross's unearthing of the original
negatives.

Ross was a Polish Jewish photojournalist, and this website gives a
glimpse of life inside the Lodz Ghetto-Poland's second largest Jewish
ghetto.

Ross hid his negatives in the ground while the last remaining ghetto
residents were being sent to their death at Auschwitz. Ross and his wife
were among the very few who survived the war and after the ghetto's
liberation was able to excavate his negatives. Half of the original
6,000 survived.
