JRI Poland #Poland Extractions of 1860-1883 Bedzin records - new JRI-Poland project #poland

Jeffrey K Cymbler <jcymbler@...>

Long-time Bedzin, Sosnowiec, Dabrowa Gornicza and area researchers
will be pleased to learn that Jewish Records Indexing - Poland has
undertaken a major new "Phase 3" project to fully extract all Bedzin
birth, marriage and death records >from 1860 to 1883.

Until now JRI-Poland's indices for 1860-1883 years only contained names
of the persons in the birth, marriage and death records and the year of
the record (act). This is the only information appearing on the index
pages JRI-Poland purchased >from the Katowice Branch of the Polish
State Archives many years ago. These index pages did NOT include
actual date of the event, names of parents, spouses, ages, place of
birth, town of permanent residence or other genealogically relevant data
contained in the records.

To carry out this major record extraction initiative, JRI-Poland
arranged to acquire scans (digital images) of the 1860 to 1883 Bedzin
records in the Katowice Archives. The scans are now on hand.

When data entry for this new project for 1860-1883 records has been
completed and funded, JRI-Poland will have full extracts of all Bedzin
records >from 1808 to 1883 online.

NOTE: Every birth, marriage or death of Jews residing in Sosnowiec,
Dabrowa Gornicza, Strzemieszyce, Czeladz, Zagorze and Modrzejow
was recorded in the Bedzin town hall in the years 1860-1883.

There are 7354 record entries to be extracted. 5663 of these records
(1868-1883) are in Russian. JRI-Poland will be employing Russian
speaking experts in Poland to translate and data enter these records.

The fundraising target to pay for the 1860-1883 scanning and extracting
project is $2,400. Researchers making a qualifying contribution of $118
or more will be eligible to obtain an Excel file with all records for
their family. When funded, the data will be added to the currently
available (full extracts of) 1826 to 1859 Bedzin records in the
JRI-Poland database.

Kindly note that the fundraising target mentioned in the last paragraph
reflects a reduction of $1,100 which are the surplus funds in the
original Bedzin 1860 to 1883 indexing project.
