My maternal great-grandmother Sara Raizel lived in Bialystok circa
1860-1881. According to my JRI-Poland searchable database result tables,
the Bialystok Cyrillic hand-written records for several related persons
spelled the surname as LINEWSKI. I have not been able to see the actual
images, since they are not yet on-line.

Her daughter spelled her surname as LINCHEWSKY on her 1889 New York City
marriage certificate.

Note the added CH which suggests how her surname should be pronounced.

What is the "correct" spelling and pronunciation?
