Christine:

The surname is probably HORODENKER, which means ">from Horodenka."
Horodenka is a Galician town only 23 miles >from Kolomea. The
German --er suffix means "from."

JRI-Poland has indexed the Kolomea records that are housed at the
AGAD Archives in Warsaw. You can search the database by going to
our homepage at www.jri-poland.org and click on "Search
Database." You will find over 60 index entries for HORODENKERs
from Kolomea.
The AGAD Kolomea project is not yet fully funded. Only $407 is
needed to complete the funding. You can help ensure the indexing
of future Kolomea records. Please consider a contribution to the
AGAD project. Information on contributing is available at
<http://www.jri-poland.org/agad/agadcontrib.htm>.

The AGAD record indices contained in the JRI-Poland database
would not be accessible to researchers without our host,
JewishGen. In addition to your contribution to the JRI-Poland
AGAD Project that supports indexing of the records, we hope you
will also give to JewishGen to help defray the cost of
maintaining these records. An easily accessible contribution form
is available at
<http://www.jewishgen.org/JewishGen-erosity/AGAD.html>.

I am looking for information re HORODENKA family >from Kolomea.
All I have is
Rifka HORODENKA (17) arriving on Ellis Island 1900, sponsored
by her father
Truel (sp) in New York. Any information would be greatfully
appreciated.
