May update for Yizkor Book Project #galicia
Joyce Field <jfield@...>
In May 2004 we added 3 new books and 12 updates to the Yizkor Book
Translations page. All translations can be accessed >from http://www.jewishgen.org/Yizkor/translations.html. It is appropriate at this time to thank all the groups that make this project possible. First, let's recognize the internationally-based volunteers who work on your behalf to get the translations online within days of your submission: Lance Ackerfeld (Israel), Max Heffler (US), and Osnat Ramaty (Germany). Without their dedication this project could not be successful. Second, without all the donors who have translated yizkor books or had them translated and then donated the material to JewishGen, we would not have been successful either. There is also a third party that should be recognized: JewishGen. Without its support, financial and organizational, the Yizkor Book Project could not have been established and have grown. Finally, without the permission of the landsmanschaftn and other parties, we could not put the translations online. This remarkable cooperative arrangement has worked well since 1997. Please remember that if you want to find if a yizkor book was written about your ancestral town, you can check that online at the Yizkor Book Database, http://www.jewishgen.org/Yizkor/database.html. New books: -Hlybokaye (Glebokie), Belarus -Il'ya, Belarus -Rabka Police School, Poland. This is another original Holocaust article by Robin O'Neil, which you will find at <http://www.jewishgen.org/yizkor/Galicia2/Galicia2.html>http://www.jewishgen.org/yizkor/Galicia2/Galicia2.html. It is indexed under Regions, Galicia.
