Re: Margulies family #galicia

Lydia Speakman asked about a MARGULIES family that owned a large
estate. There is one MARGULIES entry in "Spis alfabetyczny
obywateli ziemskich Krolestwa Polskiego ze wskazaniem ostatniej
stacji pocztowej" ["Alphabetical list of the landowners of the
Kingdom of Poland with the listing of their last post office"],
published in Polish in Warszawa by E. Skowronski in 1909:

MARGULIES, Hersz, Izrael i Mojzesz
Property: Lapigrosz
Gubernia: Warsz.
Last Post Office: Jablonna

Let me also remind Galician researchers that the 1902 address and
business directory of Lwow, discussed previously on this SIG, and
available online at
http://www.wbc.poznan.pl/dlibra/doccontent2?id=2457&dirids=1,
contains on images 158-188 (in the online collation) an extensive
list of Galician landowners ("Wykaz wlascicieli dobr tabularnych
Galicyi/Verzeichnis der Grossgrundbesitzer in Galizien"), some
clearly Jewish (there is even an entry for the Jewish Colonization
Association's property in Slobodka Lesna, near Kolomyja). Among
them is the entry:

MARGULES Jakob, Nowosiolka kozl, Korolowka [post, telegraph],
Zaleszczyki [powiat]
