I have document that my 9th great grandfather was Solomon Isachar Israel
Scapira or Spiro / Spira, Rabbi of Pinsk and later in Worms. He died 1630 in
Worms.*

The 1906 "Jewish Encyclopedia" specifies that his father was Nathan ben
Samson Spiro = Nathan Nata Spiro / Spira, who was Rabbi of Grodno and died
in 1577.

The 1906 "Jewish Encyclopedia" also specifies that the father of Nathan ben
Samson Spiro = Nathan Nata Spiro / Spira above was Samson Spiro / Spira,
born in about 1468.

However, here my research reaches a "wall". I would be very grateful to my
fellow Ravsig members for any "light you could shed" on Samson Spiro /
Spira, and who his father/ancestors were, or for pointing me to any sources
where I might find this information.

*For information: Solomon Isachar Israel Scapira or Spiro / Spira's one
daughter married Nathan Schay. When she died in Hildesheim ca. 1594, Nathan
Schay married her sister Esther. Their son, Jesaias = Jesaja = "Schay Hertz"
Naphtaly Hertz Hildesheim born 1610 Hildesheim, was the "Stamvater"
(progenitor) of "my" HILDESHEIM - HERTZ family.
