Leah and Eli Teicher
In several documents we noticed that the title in Yiddish "Das Goldene
Fon" ("The Golden Flag" or "Degel Hazahav" in Hebrew) is mentioned
after the name of several male members of our great grandmothers'
families: NUSSBAUM (example: Leib Nussbaum "Degel Hazahav") and
KIRSCHENBAUM (example: Yesha'ayahu KIRSCHENBAUM "Degel Hazahav")
Both families were married during the 18th and 19th centuries in south
Galicia (Tarnobrzeg, Zmigrod, Krosno, Jaslo, Lancut, mainly).
Does someone know the reason and the meaning of the title?
