are Leviyim. My friend Alexander Weill, currently living in Baltimore, USA is not a Levite. Neither is my friend Binyomin Weill >from Alsace, France. Rav Nesanel Weil of Karlsruhe, Germany, the Korbon Nesanel, was not a Levite, as his 7th generation ancestor, Rabbeinu Yaakov bar Yehuda Weill of Augsberg, Germany was also not a Levite. I do find it fascinating that the hebrew letters spelling my surname WEILL are similar to those of Levi. Are there research tools or resources to determine if perhaps my ancestors going back several generations were in fact leviyim? |
