Hi.

My mgm came >from Bukovina. No one in the family alive today has the
slightest idea where in Bukovina. The only clue I have is that supposedly,
my mggm is buried "right near" the Rebbe >from their town. My mggm passed
away in NY in 1919, and family story has my mgm arriving in NY as a child,
although I haven't found any of them on Ellis Island site. The closest
Rebbe's tomb in Old Montifiore cemetery in Queens is written all in
Hebrew/Yiddish, and the name, as far as I can guess, based on the extra
alephs and ayins, is Monastriche. Is there such a town in what used to be
Austro-Hungary? My gm's family all said that they were Austrian, and my
mother was shocked when I showed her on a map that Bukovina is in Romania
these days.

The family name is BURG, and mggm was BERGER.

Thanks.
