A Facebook group has been started on the sinking of the Struma in the Black
As someone who had relatives who died abroad the Struma which left for its
ill-fated voyage >from Constanta, Romania, I have started this group to have
an active central location on the Internet for those interested in the
Struma to meet and exchange information and stories. In 1999 in Washington,
D.C. I met David Stolier the one survivor of this tragedy. There was 768
refugees who died who were mostly Romanian Jews. Also in 1999, Greg Buxton
planned a dive to search for the remains of the Struma in the Black Sea,
Over the years many have asked for information that I have accumulated. This
Facebook site has in a short time revealed new information and people
connected to this event while it also serves as a memorial for those
refugees who lost their lives as they were abandoned by the world on
February 24, 1942.
Look for "The Struma Tragedy" on Facebook, if you are interested, I'll
accept you to the group.
