Please note that in the book published in Jewish Gen about Bacau, chapter
entitled "Demographic Evolution if Jewish Population in Bacau,"
it is stated that in 1742 the ruler of Moldavia ordered the sheriff of
Bacau to assist the Jews Avram and Boroh in establishing themselves in Bacau.
So the list herein that says that Alba Iulia was the only town where Jews were
permitted to live prior to 1857 is incorrect.
