My Bohemian Ancestry #austria-czech

Lee Scissors <leescissors@...>

Hi,
My name is Lee Scissors.  I am introducing myself to
the group.  My aunt, cousin, and II have been doing
genealogy research on and off for about 20 years. I
have been primarily interested in this group because
my grandmothers' families came >from Bohemia.
Marie BRULL or BRILL was born in Nove Sedliste and
married Solomon WEIL in Svihov.  He died there and
Marie came to St. Louis, MO in the late 1880's with
two of her daughters, one was Ephrosine, my great
grandmother.  I am looking for more information about
Marie's family and the origin of my great
grandmother's first name.
I have much information on my other  grandmother's
family when they lived here in the states, because
they came to St. Louis and there is much evidence of
that.  But I have not been able to trace them back to
Europe!  Censuses and family stories say they came
from Bohemia.  Johanne/Jeanette STERNBACH was the
daughter of Moses STERNBACH.  She had a sister,
Marie/Mary, and a brother, Samuel, who also came to
St. Louis.  Johanne married Samuel TRAUER in Europe,
family records say Pilsen.  They came here on the
ship, Louisiana, arriving in New Orleans in May 1848.
Living close to them in St. Louis censuses are Albert
and Charles TRAUER and their families.  One census
said one of them was >from Dolni Lukavice.  I don't
know if they are brothers.  I would really like to
find out where Moses, Johanne and/or Samuel came
from.
Thank you, Lee Scissors
