It appears that Mr Hesdorffer, who was active among the She'erit Hapleita
(Survivors Association) in Johannesburg, and who lived at 16 St Peters Road
in Houghton, left South Africa some time towards the end of 2002 to join his
son in the United States. I have no forwarding address, and have no idea of
his son's name other than that he is a medical doctor. I am sorry that I
have not been able to find out more, but will contact Mr Schiff directly
should I find further information.

Dr. Charles Steven HESDORFFER, MB BCh (1978) MMed (1986) FCP(SA) (1983).
Was a medical registrar at the Johannesburg Hospital between 1980 and 1984.
Since 1986 Charles has been at Columbia University in the United States,
first as a haematology/oncology fellow and, >from 1989 to 1996, as assistant
professor of medicine. He is currently associate professor of clinical
medicine and director of the bone marrow transplant program and the stem
cell research laboratory. Director, Marrow and Stem
Cell Transplant and Cellular Immunotherapy Programs at the College of
Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University.
