DAVID LEWIN <davidlewin@...>
I have now learned some more about the subject and wonder whether this may bring us nearer to my goal - to get
"Union - Blaetter der Emigration" digitized for all researchers to gain access to this important publication.
The publisher H O SIMON was called Hans. He was born in 1887 and died 1961 (presumably in Johannesburg). Does anyone know anything about his family?
Before escaping to South Africa he was a SPORT publisher in Germany. Three of his works are available in the Deutschen Digitalen Bibliothek - the German National Digital Library. He was President and Chairman of the "Independent Cultural Association", insrumental in getting "Our Parents Home" established, Published under the name of Presto Advertising, >from 48 Walter Wise's Building, 50 Joubert Street, Johannesburg.
"Union - Blaetter der Emigration" exists today in paper format at the Deutsche Nationalbibliothek and in Microfilm (until September 1948) at at least 6 locations. After September 1948 the title changed to "Union - Contemporary Cultural Review "
I would like your help to
1. Find the Simon family
2. Get the digitizing to become a reality
