My grandmother was Kreindel or Klara ZOLDAN nee WEISSBERGER. She was
born and grew up in Munkatch but the family may have moved >from greater
Hungary before she was born?? not sure.
Kreindel (Klara) was the daughter of Efraim Zalman (Solomon) WEISSBERGER
and Devorah (Vera) SHLEZINGER. Her siblings were Chaim Sender, Avraham
(Bumi), Leah, Malka, Sara Rivka, Nachman. Avraham Bumi survived the war.
Efraim Zalmans was one of at least four children including Hirsh Melech
and Avraham born to their mother Sheindel WEISSBERGER.
Devorah was the daughter of Yitzchak Eizik and Sima SHLEZINGER. Devorahs
known siblings are Zelig (Zoli), Shlomo, David, Yaakov, Yehuda. Yehuda
SHLEZINGER has a son Zoli (US) and a daughter Sima (Russia).
Recently I found some documents which lists some information about the
camps my grandmother was in.
>from May, 1944 she entered Auschwitz for about 6 weeks.
>from July 1944 she entered Prose camp until the Russian invasion.
>from Russian invasion till end of April 1945 she was in Putzing camp.
My questions are:
1) Can anyone help with the above WEISSBERGER or SHLEZINGER family.
2) I googled the camps which I listed, i.e. Prose Camp and Putzing Camp
but found nothing. I am sure the spelling is off, this must be the way
it was heard by the one who filled out the form I referenced. What could
the names of these camps be and what info do we have about these camps.
Also, what could I research about Auschwitz for the months she was there
May and June 1944.
3) Although grandmas mother and most siblings seem to have been killed
immediately at Auschwitz, it seems that her father Efraim Zalman
(Solomon) WEISSBERGER wasn't killed right away and may have lived into
1945. What is available to me to research what happened to him and his
daughter, my grandmother.
I would be grateful for any help, leads, comments.
