I found vital records for Suczawa in southern Bukowina for the
period 1843-1899 at the Suceava regional branch of the Romanian
National Archives. Records for later dates are at the City Hall.
However records should exist also at least for the period starting
with the Law of names for Jews which took effect >from 1/1/1788.
Until the constitution of Bukowina as a separate district (duchy)
of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1835, it was part of Galicia.
Does anyone know where they might be kept?
Thank you in advance
