Yes, it is possible that your ancestor's ancestors "came" >from the town of
Korostychev. Many surnames are toponyms (place names), but you would be
fortunate to be able to trace your ancestors back to Korostychev.

I may be mistaken, but I have the impression that the Ukrainian "o" is
pronounced "ah," so if that impression is correct, then it is understandable that
when transliterated that Mr. Brook's family name was written and pronounced as
