Ukraine SIG #Ukraine Kerch Jewish Museum (Crimea) #ukraine
In KERCH, Crimea, Ukraine, the community has assembled a collection of
Jewish tombstones used to pave roads and build fences after the war. They
will become the focus for the Kerch Jewish Museum, which is dedicated to the
community's history covering "customs and traditions of Jews in the Kerch area
through Jewish artifacts dating as far back as the 18th century". The museum is
housed in the synagogue which was returned to the remains of the Jewish community
only in 2000. Jewish cemeteries no longer exist in today's Crimea.
