Foos might be a variant of the surname "Fuchs." My grandfather's
official surname in the US was Fox. In many documents for him and his
relatives there were surnames such as Fuchs, Fuks, Fiz and Fix.
Depending on the dialect it is possible that Fuchs, the German and
Yiddish word for "Fox" was pronounced 'Foos.'
