Hello! This is a difficult question: has anybody heard of two villages
called something like Laskrinien and Leskveni ? Most probably in
Podolia, near Kamenets-Podolsk. But Bessarabia and Galitzia (or anywhere
within the Pale) cannot be excluded.
Two of my grandparents married in Argentina around 1905 and gave those
villages as their birth-places. They are almost certainly misspelled, of
course, as was often the case when transliterating Russian or Yiddish
names to Spanish.
1. "Leskveni" appears to be name of village Leskovtsy (Polish Leskowce)
at 4840 2624, about 8 miles distance >from Kamyanets-Podilskyy
2. " Laskrinien" on the other hand, is most probably town Lanckorun,
known in Yiddish as Lantzekronia, once mighty historical Jewish town at
4854 2623, 18 miles distance >from Kamyanets-Podilskyy.
