Connie Fisher Newhan
I have a copy of a leaflet promoting a performance at cafe "Nowoczesna" in
the Warsaw ghetto where my aunt Anna FISCHER performed on Sunday, February
9th, 1941. Also on this same leaflet is mention of Wladyslaw Szpilman appearing
on February 6th. My friend sent me a copy of this leaflet and said he found
it in Adama Czernikowa dziennik getta warszawkiego ( Adam Czernikowa Diary
from Warsaw Ghetto), PWN Warszawa 1983, p. 244. Perhaps there is moreinformation on the Sztuka cafe in this book.
I do not know the address of this cafe, but I do know my grandparents Herman
FISCHER and Liza BARSKA FISCHER and their daughter Anna lived on Lezno
Street. They were all active in the Yiddish Theatre in Warsaw.
If researcher 196209 would like a copy of this leaflet, please respond
directly to me.
