You're right on all accounts.

In Polish, OWICZ means "son of" while OWNA means "daughter of."

That's why some last names are referred to as patronymic.
Abramowitz, Leibowitz, etc.

Thanks,Jonathan, one more question with regard to OW:

Joskow is the maiden name for Estera?

Jakubow is the maiden name for Blima?
Would the correct relationship, instead, be:

Estera, daughter of Josk?

Blima, daughter of Jakub?

Would there be a surname for these women in the actual record, or are we
getting to a point where surnames were not yet common or required?

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
