I would like to support what Phyllis Berenson wrote in a recent email. As President of The San Francisco Bay Area Jewish Genealogical Society of California, USA, I would like to add our voice to those of other Jewish genealogical societies worldwide in support of Alex Krakovsky's dedicated and productive efforts to collect and disseminate the Jewish records of Ukraine.
We wish to convey our strongest support and appreciation for his work, as well as our professional assessment of its great historical value to Mr. Anatoly Khromov of the Ukraine State Archive Service.
Open archives provide a vital and invaluable service to Jewish genealogists throughout the world. Documenting a family connection to Ukraine will lead many researchers to visit the family's ancestral town and explore the neighboring towns. It will certainly promote a sympathetic view of our global interrelatedness.
We urge Mr. Khromov to assist the Central Historical Archives in Kyiv in solving its technical difficulties to allow Alex Krakovsky to resume his scanning of Jewish documents in Town Records.
Jeremy Frankel, President
San Francisco Bay Area Jewish Genealogical Society
