I find hashtags obnoxious and annoying.  Perhaps if they were used well - but too many people have not a clue how to do that.

Dear Members, 

With the redesign of the Jewish Gen Mailing List and the influx of thousands of SIG members, many of us are inundated with too many irrelevant  (to us) postings. Would every one please use #hashtags to identify the country or subject you are posting about.

To those in charge, it would be even better if the NEW and Advanced Mailing List would require all posters to use hashtags.
Also, members should be required to submit requests to create new hashtags, and not be permitted to create their own. There are too many spelling errors and duplicate / meaningless hashtags being created.
