Here is an example of a reply that would be better addressed to the sender of the question (rather than to the group):
"You can also try Lithuania, where Kaunas/Kovno is.”
I, a reader, do not know what the question was. Maybe I don’t care, but maybe—given that I have ancestry from near Kovno—this answer might be useful to me IF I knew what the question was!
May I suggest that it would be useful, when submitting a reply like that, for the writer either to address the sender privately OR to include the original question?
