Everyone has good advice but one vital piece of advice is to label the back of every picture now. Assuming you will save the pictures, as everyone here has advised you to do so, someday someone will find these photos and if they are not labeled they will not have any meaning.
 
 my great-great uncle died leaving tens of family albums. A friend generously offered to bring them to me from Sweden but, for weight reasons oh, she took them out of the albums. I received a 16 kilo suitcase filled with photographs, the majority of which had no labels! it took me a year to find out who most are but  I am still left with many beautiful old photographs of people I don't know.
