What to do during the Coronavirus pandemic? Organize A Virtual Family Reunion #general #jgs-iajgs

Phil Goldfarb

What to do during your "down time" at home? How about organizing a Virtual Family Reunion? I have suggested it to our JGS and so far it has been a big hit from children to adults. Sharing stories, getting to meet new relatives, seeing family growing up, sharing pictures, getting new information, improving a family tree...there is a lot to accomplish and it is FUN! If you are an officer of a JGS you might suggest it to your membership.

The way to do it is through Zoom. There are three types of Zoom meetings that you can do:
1. Basic Zoom which is free but there is a 40 minute limit and you can have up to 100 participants
2. Zoom Pro that is up to 24 hours long and you can have up to 100 participants. It is $14.99/month
3. Zoom Business is also for 24 hours long and up to 300 participants. The cost is $19.99/month

On a personal note, our family is having a virtual Zoom Passover this year with family from around the country (be aware of the time zones). I copied the relevant pages from our family Union Haggadah (1923 edition) and sent them out to everyone. My wife sent out the ingredients for every part of the meal and how to prepare it, It should prove to be interesting. The best thing is no masks and no gloves!

Stay safe
