Do you only have the record from the Hamburg Passenger lists or also the record of the arrival in New York?
On the Passenger Manifest of the arrival in New York, there must be a second page which contains useful information.
Did you search for his entries in the United States census lists? New York has some for 1910, 1915, 1920, 1925, 1930,
the other States for 1910, 1920, 1930. You can find all this records on familysearch.
As far as I know records for the travel back to Europe can only be found on ancestry, and only if he changed ship in Great Britain.
