Probuzna: Extraordinary Commission List translations on Gesher Galicia website #galicia
Gesher Galicia has just added a transcription of the Extraordinary
Commission Lists for the town of Probuzna to our documents page:
Created after WWII, the complete name of the group charged with
investigating Nazi actions in towns covering what became Soviet was
the "Extraordinary State Commission to Investigate and Establish War
Crimes of the German-Fascist Invaders". The lists were compiled from
interrogations, the testimony of neighbors, and local eyewitnesses.
They can be useful sources for Holocaust researchers.
The pages list victims >from the town of Probuzna. These are scans of
the originals in Russian, preceded by an English translation. Thanks
to Andrew Hill for providing these records to Gesher Galicia. The
microfilms of these lists are available at the US Holocaust Memorial
Museum. If any member obtains copies and has the translations done,
we'd be happy to put the results on our website.
