In celebration of the publication of May God Avenge Their Blood: A Holocaust Memoir Triptych—the memoirs of Yiddish writer and poet Rachmil Bryks, translated into English—the Museum will host the work’s translator, Yermiyahu Ahron Taub, and the author’s daughter, Bella Bryks-Klein in an online book talk.

Rachmil Bryks (1912–1974) was the author of seven Yiddish-language books and was a regular contributor to the Yiddish press. This publication brings three memoirs—Di vos zaynen nisht geblibn (Those Who Didn't Survive), Di antloyfers (The Fugitives), and Fun gsise tsum lebn (From Agony to Life)—to English-language readers for the first time. With narrative flair and vivid detail, Bryks’ memoirs brilliantly depict interwar Jewish life in his hometown of Skarżysko-Kamienna, Poland, the early days and months of World War II in Łódź and elsewhere, and his imprisonment in Auschwitz and other camps.
During this program, Taub will speak about the works translated, his translation strategies, and Bryks and his literary accomplishments. Bryks-Klein will speak about her father's life in America, growing up in a Yiddish home as a daughter of Holocaust survivors, and her own research into the manuscripts her father buried in the Łódź Ghetto.
