Re: ABRAMOWITZ to ABRAMS -Boston late 19th early 20th cent. #usa #names

Hello Yoni,

My name is Andrew Zack.  My maternal grandparents were named Abramovici and lived in the Bacau, Romania area until they emigrated to Canada around the turn of the 20th century.  I have seen variations of their name which include Abramovitz and Abramowitz.  They initially settled in Saskatchewan and homesteaded in the Lipton Colony set up by Baron Hirsch.  They changed their name to Abrams shortly after they arrived.  Most of the children, including my grandfather Nathan, moved to Detroit, Michigan around 1915, including my great-grandparents Michel and Bette (her maiden name was Gottesman).  The rest stayed in Canada, eventually settling in Edmonton, Alberta.  Unfortunately, as far as I know, none of my ancestors wound up in Boston.  However, that isn't conclusive and it's possible that some cousins of Michel may be your ancestors.  I have a family tree on that lists Michel and others.  I'm happy to send you a link via private correspondence if you're interested in reviewing it for any possible clues you may find.

I look forward to hearing from you.  My contact information appears below.
