Hi, I had similar trouble finding an ancestor on a manifest. Someone on the list helped me find that he had taken a different route than other family members. Instead of going directly from Hamburg to New York, he went to England and then to Canada and then traveled on ground to New York. It hadn't occurred to me to check Canadian ports.
