Dear JewishGen Discussion Group Subscribers:
I am writing to advise you of two changes to the IAJGS Public Records Access Monitoring Committee which is responsible for the IAJGS Records Access Alert and replying to proposed legislation and regulations affecting records access.
First, we are delighted to add to our committee, Peter Graber-Lipperman. He goes by Pete. He recently retired as Corporate VP and Associate General Counsel of United Technologies Corp and formerly Vice President and General Counsel of Sikorsky Aircraft. In both he worked on federal legislation and regulations. Located in Connecticut, he is a recent member of JGS-NY, Inc.
Secondly, we announce the retirement of Paul Silverstone, who was appointed by the IAJGS Board to the committee in 2004. For a number years he served as IAJGS treasurer (2009-2015). Paul is an active, almost nonagenarian, who recently relocated from New York City to Vancouver, British Columbia to be closer to his family. Paul served on the JGSNY Board of Directors for many years. He has dual citizenship between Canada and the U.S. Paul has written a number of books on ships and is an internationally recognized naval authority known for his many books and articles on warships. He is author of US Warships of WWII and editor of the naval notes column of Warship International, the quarterly journal of the international Naval Research Organization. He is currently writing another book!
The IAJGS Public Records Access Monitoring Committee:
Jan Meisels Allen Chairperson, JGS Conejo Valley and Ventura County (JGSCV)
In alphabetical order:
Peter Graber-Lipperman JGSNY, Inc
Teven Laxer JGS Sacramento
Bert Lazerow San Diego JGS
Mark Nicholls JGS Great Britain
Catherine Youngren JGS Vancouver, BC, Canada
Ken Bravo, ex officio President, IAJGS JGS Cleveland
The IAJGS Public Records Access Monitoring Committee currently is comprised of two retired lobbyists, a retired general counsel, an active law professor, a word-smith extraordinaire, two international representatives-all active in their personal genealogy! Your committee has an excellent complement of talent to represent IAJGS on the many issues facing records access worldwide, so we can all do our genealogy research with hopefully a limited intrusion to our advocation and for some vocation.
Note: All appointments are approved by the IAJGS Board of Directors
The JGS listed is the “home” JGS of the member as some of us belong to multiple JGSs.
