We found a lot of Canadian records for our relatives there on Ancestry, but I had also already found many of them on FamilySearch. I suggest you try it for 6 months but remember to calendar the renewal date and cancel it beforehand as many of these sites do automatic renewal and once they bill your credit card you can't get a refund. Also, we pooled our resources, my cousin pays for the Ancestry and I pay for MyHeritage and we share info. Also, my cousin put up a private tree on Ancestry bc she had some hunches and ended up getting hints so make sure you have your latest version up when you start your membership. Also when emailing people through their system (you can only contact people through their server unlike FTDNA) always include your email so if you discontinue after the 6 months people can continue to contact you (see if you can add it to a bio if they allow as well). Try tag teaming it to save money. All the other suggestions on here are great too. What a wonderful community we have!
