There is no foul in asking.  The translator can decide to respond or not.  Its their choice.  If the translator agrees to take on the task they can do it as a courtesy or ask for compensation in which case it becomes a private conversation. There was a guy on this site offering to take photos of headstones at a cemetery where my gg grandparents are buried. He then asked for an unspecified "donation." I'm sure he was going to that cemetery anyway for his own personal reasons. When the pictures arrived in an email I sent him a fair amount in compensation. I was satisfied, I hope he was.
