Alisha Babbstein and Anne LeVant Prahl will discuss what is in the archival collection at the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education, how they get it, what they do with it, and how they make it accessible to researchers and interested parties.  They will also talk about how to work with archives and archivists to ensure best results for everyone.

A goat herder in a former life, a voracious reader in her current life, and a Dolly Parton enthusiast her entire life, Alisha Babbstein is a woman of many interests.  None, however, rivals her passion for community archives.  Babbstein is the Archivist at the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education (OJMCHE), where, since 2013, she has been capturing, preserving, and stewarding the stories and collections of Jewish Oregonians for the education and enjoyment of future generations.
 
Anne LeVant Prahl is the Curator of the Collections for the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education.  Growing the collection and the museum’s relationships with donors and peer institutions for 25 years, she has developed the holdings of the OJMCHE into the state’s most comprehensive repository for the Jewish community of Oregon.  She oversees the oral history program that collects the first-person narrative histories of Jewish Oregonians around the state and speaks publicly on the subject of oral history collection.
