Re: Reading a Headstone from Warsaw Cemetery #poland

It seems to me to be an engraver’s error.

There should be an abbreviation mark between the bet and the reysh.  The second line would then read:

M(arat) Tzipe b(at) R(eb) Leib e(shet) R(eb) Eleazar
Mrs. Tzipe daughter of Mr. Leib, wife of Mr. Eleazar

The aleph-reysh abbreviation is for “Eshet Reb” (wife of Mr.)

Tzipa passed in 1911.
1. I want to know if it was common to write  bar (son of ) instead of bas ( daughter of) at that time and place
2. Her Father seems to be Leib and Her husband was Eliezer. Was it common to list the husband on the headstone or could it be someone else?
3. What does א''ר signify?
