You actually do NOT have to visit any FHL center to retrieve these documents. For many months I have been asking for such documents online (and getting back just about everything) from the Family History Library Remote Access Service. No mess, no fuss. You do have to have the Film number and/or DGS number, image number (if known--I put the certificate number here), the direct link to the image (found at family search and looking like this: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:27YS-7T1, the date of record, name(s) if the individual(s), the name of the town (i.e., Brooklyn NYC), and the type of record. Basically, if you can find the item on familysearch.org, this service will provide you the image. To submit a request, visit
