Re: Ozimina, Poland #galicia

Ozimina is listed in Gesher Galicia's Galician Town Locator (https://www.geshergalicia.org/galician-town-locator/). As Mark Halpern mentioned, its Jewish Administrative District, where vital records were filed, was Sambor. Listings in the JewishGen Gazetteer (https://www.jewishgen.org/Communities/LocTown.asp) suggest that Ozimina is now either Mala Ozymyna (small Ozymyna) or Velyka Ozymyna (large Ozymyna) -- villages within c.10 miles of what's now Sambir, Ukraine. This article in the Słownik geograficzny Królestwa Polskiego (Geographical Dictionary of the Kingdom of Poland) describes Ozimina: http://dir.icm.edu.pl/pl/Slownik_geograficzny/Tom_VII/789 . Perhaps someone who reads Polish can skim it to see if it mentions anything of interest -- e.g. number of Jewish residents. Renee Renee Stern Steinig Dix Hills NY genmaven@...
