Regarding deaths at sea: I went to the Immigrant Ships Transcribers Guild   https://www.immigrantships.net/
ans searched on the terms:  "Died at Sea" and "Died on Board" and found a number of examples.  Going to the ship manifests on Ancestry.com  I saw how this was usually dealt with.
