Dr. Neville Yosef Lamdan, z'l. #JewishGenUpdates

Avraham Groll

Dear JewishGen Community,
We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Neville Yosef Lamdan, z'l.

A career diplomat, he spoke multiple languages and became an active member of the Jewish genealogical community both as a participant, and active contributor of content, articles and records. In 2006, he helped establish the International Institute for Jewish Genealogy (IIJG) and Paul Jacobi Center in Israel, which aims to develop Jewish genealogy into a recognized field of academic pursuit. He served as the founding Director through 2012, and then as Chair until last year.
He was an engaging speaker at various International Jewish Genealogical conferences over the years, and always accessible to talk in between sessions. For his many contributions, he was the recipient of the IAJGS Lifetime Achievement award in 2013.

We send our sincere condolences to Dr. Lamdan's family. He was a great friend of Jewish genealogy, and will be deeply missed. May his family be comforted amongst the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
