Re ZEMPLEN/CENSII #hungary

Hello MELODY AND ALL

IN THE HEAT OF THE BATTLE, AS THEY SAY, IT IS EASY TO FORGET THE DETAILS.
REGARDING CENSII: THE 1828 CENSUS IS MUCH TALKED ABOUT, HOWEVER I FORGOT
THAT IT IS A TAX CENSUS-- WHICH IS MUCH DIFFERENT THAN A REGULAR CENSUS.

EVEN IN HUNGARIAN THEIR DEFINITION IS NOT ALL THAT CLEAR TO ME:
OSSZEIRAS-- LEISTROM--- CONSCRIPTIO-- NEPSZAMPLALAS-- ANYOTHER?

IT TURNS OUT THAT THE 1836 CENSUS -- WHICH I HAD HIGH HOPES FOR IS ALSO
A TAX CENSUS.

ACTUALLY IT APPEARS THAT THE TAX CENSUS WAS AN ANNUAL EVENT. IT IS
PROBABLY JUST A QUESTION OF WHICH ONES SURVIVED. (LOUIS DON'T TRY TO BUY
THE 1836 ONE!).

i RECEIVED COPIES OF THE 1841 ONE AS WELL.

Best regards, Szervusz

Dear Alex,

Yes, get me the name of the book!

The 1828 Census exists (existed in 1912, anyway), and is quoted in the
book: SZTROPKO ES VARANAK Huszt 1912 by Ede Unghvary

Beside, I saw it personally in the LDS Library, reel # 062319(that's
just the Stropkov portion, though)
