Major new Andrzejewo, Lomza area, Poland records extraction project started #poland #records

Long-time Andrzejewo and area researchers will be pleased to learn that Jewish Records Indexing - Poland (jri-poland.org) has undertaken a huge new “Phase 3” project to fully extract all surviving Andrzejewo birth, marriage and death records from 1818 to 1912 in the Łomża branch of the Polish State Archives. In addition, we created indices (with fathers’ names) for the surviving 1913 to 1935 records. Several years of Alegata records are also included.

(Alegata - also known as Marriage Supplements or Annexes - are a group of documents that form a more detailed record of the betrothal than the marriage record.  Alegata files include the marriage banns posted in the synagogue for 3 consecutive weeks. Other documents may be birth protocols (extracts of original registrations or sworn statements) for the bride and groom, divorce or army records. There is often additional valuable information in Alegata files that does not appear in the marriage record.)

As Town Leader, it would be my pleasure to send you a full description of the Phase 3 project and explain how you will be able to obtain these extracts as well as digital images of your family records up to 1912, before they go online.

I look forward to hearing from you.
