I was looking through the name index of "Journey To A Nineteenth-Century Shtetl" and found the name Arye-Leyb with "only child" in quotations. I tried to find a translation, but it looks like Arye-Leyb means "first born".
My 2X Great Grandfather was Arye-Leyb Predmestsky Ha Levi and he was the first born and not an only child.
Anyone have any information about this?
